Job Description;
Our client’s After Sales & Service team in their UK division are currently looking for a bright, ambitious Field Service Representative who enjoys teamwork and on-going challenging projects.
The Field Service Representative (Electrical/Controls) will be responsible for design, development, troubleshooting, and documentation of complete control programs for custom automation equipment. Programming of control systems using PLC’s, PC’s, servo drives, robots and other more specialised controllers is a requirement. Skilled in troubleshooting of electrical controls and mechanical mechanisms. Good organization skills as wells as self-discipline and working well with minimal supervision.
Specific Responsibilities;
– Develop and program software (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer requirements;
– Troubleshoot controls and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status;
– Report and correct abnormal equipment conditions and inaccurate actions by customer staff;
– Required to work independently or as part of a team;
– Ensure alignment of customer objectives with on-site work plan;
– Support developing operating and troubleshooting knowledge of the operations team;
– Review/suggest additional tools or equipment necessary to better operate or maintain customer equipment;
– Make recommendations to repair/replace only items that require repair/replacement.
– Travel to both domestic and international customer locations for long and short-term support;
– Lead on-site team and consult with customer and the client’s Project Manager;
– Coordinate third party vendors and assist to resolve technical issues as required;
– Complete detailed Service Report for the services provided on a daily/weekly basis; Ensure customer issues have been resolved through follow-up communication and project/case closure if required;
– Be available to be on call on a rotational basis;
– Communicate with internal and external customers to understand needs and support resources and solutions accordingly;
– Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with the customer;
– Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with our client’s Code of Business Conduct;
– Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures;
– Takes initiative, innovative, and has a keen attention to detail;
– Ability to work effectively in fast paced multitasking environment with plant engineers, external vendors, operators and management to manage project and assignment; and
– You will be expected to set an example of company culture with integrity and professional competence. Adhere to all established procedures as defined by our client’s Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, Policies and the Employee Expectations.
Qualifications & Experience;
– A post-secondary diploma/degree specialising in PLC programming/electrical engineering or equivalent;
– Database/robot/vision experience is not essential but an asset; and
– A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a hands-on automation/controls environment. Three (3) or more years of experience programming PLCs and HMIs using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
This is an on the road job and travel time will range from 50%-75% of the time.
The successful candidate MUST have the following;
– Legal right to work and travel in the UK & Ireland;
– Be ok to travel for up to two (2) weeks away from home;
– Be ok to work weekends when requested & planned in advance;
– Be ok to work up to ten (10) hours per day when required (and very rarely twelve (12) hours per day that could be requested); and
– Be ok, with advance notice, to work short-term nightshifts.
The successful candidate will be a good communicator, display professionalism and have well-developed people skills with the ability to work with all levels of customers and our client’s management in a multi-disciplined engineering environment under pressure.
They will also have an exceptional understanding of pneumatic, electrical & multiple controls systems alongside the ability to read drawings, reference manuals and systems instruction guides. Must have experience, and be proficient, in MS Office. Must be an adaptive learner and ability to troubleshoot systems.
